Young victim of gun violence remembered
SUMMARY: A gathering was held to honor Jaky Silas, a Hattiesburg child shot and killed in 2022, on what would have been his ninth birthday. Jaky was fatally shot on February 27th, 2022, at his great-grandmother’s home, while his younger cousin was left injured and lost an eye. Three years later, no arrests have been made in the case. Jaky’s grandmother, Roberta Fairman, has forgiven the perpetrators but seeks justice. She expresses gratitude for her faith, stating that it helps her cope with the situation. World War II veteran celebrates 100th birthday
SUMMARY: The Sandersville Community came together to celebrate Albert McLaren’s 100th birthday, honoring a beloved retired postmaster and World War II veteran.
