KY authorities identify body found in Laurel Co. as accused I-75 shooter
SUMMARY: Kentucky State Police have identified a body found on Interstate 75 as Jeffrey Couch, the man accused of shooting at cars and wounding five people two weeks ago. His body was discovered in dense brush behind Exit 49 on Wednesday and has been confirmed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials are still awaiting results from a toxicology report.
Kentucky officials said the body was found in the deep brush behind Exit 49. They said Joseph Couch shot himself.

Suspect convicted for 2022 murder
SUMMARY: A verdict has been reached in the murder case of Melvin Waters, 48, who was convicted of second-degree murder and possessing a weapon as a felon. The incident occurred in August 2022 at a gas station in North Nashville, where Waters admitted to fatally shooting 25-year-old Kendrick Frasier, who later died at the hospital. Waters turned himself in to police a few days after the shooting. Criminal Court Judge Cindy Chapel announced the verdict, and Waters is scheduled to be sentenced on December 5th.

Driver killed after CSX train crashes into car, CSX reports
SUMMARY: A train crash in Von resulted in one death early this morning. CSX officials reported that the incident occurred shortly before 8:00 AM when a train collided with a car at the Evans Street and Old Slag Road crossing. No train crew members were injured in the accident. CSX is cooperating with local authorities in the investigation. Details about the driver of the car are not yet available, as further information has not been provided.
According to CSX, the train crashed into the car at the Evans Street and Old Slag Road crossing in Vonore.
