Fact check: Bad neighbor? New Mexico governor criticizes Texas for securing her border | National
SUMMARY: New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham criticized Texas for installing concertina wire fencing along the Rio Grande, asserting it was a political stunt with no real impact on immigration issues. The barriers, part of Texas’ Operation Lone Star, have been in place since October and aim to deter illegal crossings into New Mexico. Texas officials claim that their security measures have effectively redirected migration routes, causing increased border crossings into New Mexico. Grisham, who did not support Abbott’s call for assistance, contrasted her stance with that of governors from other states, who have joined Texas in border security efforts amid rising crime and cartel activity.

Fort Worth Police Officer William Martin arrested for off-duty shooting, released on bond shortly af
SUMMARY: Fort Worth police officer William Martin, known for a controversial disciplinary record, has been charged with aggravated assault in an off-duty shooting incident where he pursued a driver following a minor collision. On September 3, Martin alleged that a red Ford F150 struck his car and fled. After chasing the driver, he claimed shots were fired, injuring unarmed Samuel Christopher. Martin, a 19-year veteran involved in a high-profile 2016 case of excessive force, has been placed on detached duty. Following the incident, he turned himself in with an attorney, and his bond amount remains unclear.
Fort Worth police say Martin did a “jail walkthrough” on Friday, meaning he walked in with his attorney to turn himself in, was fingerprinted, posted bond and walked out. He did not spend any time detained.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George accused in fake social profile case to influence election
SUMMARY: Fort Bend County Judge KP George is under investigation for alleged election fraud, linked to his former campaign consultant, Theal Patel. George stated he is cooperating as a witness, not a target, despite being accused of knowing about Patel’s fake social media posts. Patel, who was arrested for felony charges last month, allegedly used a fictitious account to post racist comments. Investigators claim George directed Patel to create these posts to undermine rival campaigns. Legal experts suggest George could face similar misdemeanor and felony charges as Patel. No formal charges have been filed against George as of now.
One of Fort Bend County’s top officials has been ordered to turn over his “cellular communication devices.”
A search warrant from the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office alleges that Fort Bend County Judge KP George coordinated a social media hoax with his former chief of staff Taral Patel.
