Hundreds of street racers arrested by Nashville police
SUMMARY: Street takeovers and high-speed racing are increasingly frequent in Nashville, prompting the Metro Police Department to launch a Street Racer Enforcement Initiative in 2020. Since early 2023, there have been 47 arrests related to these dangerous activities, which can lead to severe injuries and property damage. In the past year, four fatalities were reported due to street racing incidents. To combat this issue, Tennessee has enacted a new bill targeting street racing, inspired by the tragic death of 34-year-old Jack Barnhart. Police encourage public reporting of street racing to enhance enforcement measures and improve safety.
The department’s Street Racer Initiative has targeted illegal street takeovers.

Morning Weather (9/20): Another HOT day as we wrap up Summer
SUMMARY: Good morning and happy Friday! This week has seen fluctuating temperatures, with highs in the 60s and expected 90s this weekend, coinciding with the first day of fall. While today will be dry with some patchy fog, there’s a slight chance of isolated showers tomorrow night. Next week, a cold front may bring more rain starting Tuesday and possibly continuing into Thursday, although totals are expected to be light. Drought conditions persist in the area, so outdoor activities require caution, especially with fire safety. Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts!
