FNF Game of the Week: Oxford at Tupelo

Escapee captured, ending manhunt
SUMMARY: The manhunt for 26-year-old Jaccory Carr, an escapee from the Wilkinson County Jail, has officially ended with his capture, announced on social media. Capitol police investigate apparent shooting

Federal funding to help Lamar, Perry counties bolster law enforcement staffs
SUMMARY: New federal grants are enabling Lamar and Perry counties in the Pine Belt to hire additional law enforcement officers. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office will employ four new deputies, funded by a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Justice Department, aimed at enhancing response times for service calls. Perry County will use a $250,000 grant to hire two deputies, addressing the challenges of its large, rural landscape. Both counties are required to contribute matching funds—38% for Lamar and 32% for Perry. Montgomery County also received a grant for one additional officer at nearly $97,000.
