Third annual summit focuses on education, addiction recovery resources

In Tupelo, the United Way of Northeast Mississippi and the Health Alliance hosted their annual recovery and addiction summit at Cadence Bank Arena. Formed three years ago to enhance mental health resources in schools, the Health Alliance also addresses addiction and health issues among the homeless. The summit featured over 30 vendors and discussions on recovery stories, mental health awareness, and law enforcement crisis response. Attendees could explore diverse recovery options and access resources through the event.

The third annual Addiction and Recovery Summit was held on Tuesday.

Tupelo's Braylen Williams ruled ineligible to compete in the 2024-2025 academic year

SUMMARY: Brillan Williams, a football player from Tupelo High School, has been ruled ineligible by the MHSAA for the 2024-2025 school year after transferring from Nettleton High School. The MHSAA determined that Williams’ move was not a bona fide transfer, stating it was purely for athletic reasons and occurred outside the transfer window. Tupelo High made a case for his eligibility since summer, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Williams had previously played as a quarterback at Nettleton High for two years.
