Here’s how to enjoy hunting season in Arkansas
SUMMARY: Archery season starts on September 28, and concerns about weather conditions are rising, especially with Hurricane Francine impacting the Delta and nearby areas. The teal season opens tomorrow at sunrise, raising questions about how the weather will affect hunting. While permanent water in reservoirs might hinder some hunters, the overall outlook is somewhat positive. The rain could benefit teal hunters by filling moist soil units and wildlife management areas. However, local farmers are unhappy about the rain’s arrival. Overall, the weather’s impact during the upcoming hunting season remains uncertain but may lead to mixed results.

Fire officials urge cold weather preparation as temperatures drop
SUMMARY: As colder weather approaches, fire officials report an increase in heating-related fire calls. The Deputy Chief of the Rogers Fire Department emphasizes that one in seven winter fires is caused by heating equipment, particularly space heaters, which should be kept at least three feet away from flammable materials. Homeowners should ensure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are functional and have a fire extinguisher rated for B and C fires. Local hardware stores are stocked with winter essentials like detectors and fire extinguishers. Preparedness is key to keeping families safe during the winter season.
