Covington County accepts bids on 16th Section land
SUMMARY: The Cumington County School District has sold timber from its 16th section land, holding a special meeting to accept the highest bid. Circle T Limited won the bid to harvest about 30 acres of timber, expected to yield around $50,000 for the district. The harvest will include various types of pine wood, and there is urgency to begin due to the wet conditions that make this a summer project. Once the timber is cleared, the Mississippi Forestry Commission will assist in determining the best use of the land. The district plans to use the interest from the funds for various needs.
