Kentucky agencies receives $1.7M in anti-drug trafficking grants
SUMMARY: Governor Andy Beshear announced $1.7 million in grants to 12 Kentucky agencies to combat drug trafficking. The funds will support law enforcement and nonprofits through drug prevention officer training, victim counseling, and reintegration efforts. Key recipients include the Kentucky State Police, receiving over $372,000. These grants aim to disrupt drug networks and reduce overdose deaths, particularly in high-abuse areas like Lexington, Louisville, Owensboro, Northern Kentucky, London, and Bowling Green. In July, State Police seized over $9.6 million worth of drugs, marking the largest monthly seizure in recent history, enhancing their collaborative investigations and programming.

Suspect killed in Russell County shooting identified
SUMMARY: The suspect killed alongside Deputy Fips is identified as 41-year-old Joshua Arnold, according to the Russell County coroner. Kentucky court records indicate Arnold had an active felony case in Russell County, facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting arrest.
