Person of interest in missing mother case tied to other stolen vehicle cases with missing drivers
SUMMARY: A newly obtained search warrant reveals details about the disappearance of 61-year-old Karen Miles from Missouri City. Her last contact was on August 21, and skeletal remains were discovered on September 4, although they have not been positively identified. Police have identified 26-year-old Devonte Clark, currently in jail on unrelated charges, as a person of interest. He was found in Miles’ car with stolen license plates and may be linked to other missing persons in stolen vehicle cases. Miles was reported missing on August 28 after she failed to show up to work, triggering community support for her search. An autopsy is pending for the remains.
New documents obtained by KPRC 2 have more information on the person of interest in the disappearance of Karen Miles, a Missouri City mother who’s been missing since Aug. 21 ties that man to two other stolen vehicles whose drivers have never been found.

Texas lawmaker makes push to remove death penalty in the state | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Williamson County Representative John Bucy advocates for abolishing the death penalty in Texas, citing both financial and moral concerns. He has filed a bill to end executions, arguing that it costs more to execute someone than to imprison them. This follows a Texas Supreme Court decision to move forward with Robert Robertson’s execution, despite claims of his innocence based on updated science. Since 1982, Texas has executed nearly 600 people, the most in the U.S. While death sentences have declined in recent years, Bucy believes growing public awareness of wrongful convictions may change attitudes toward the death penalty.
A Central Texas lawmaker is making a push to get the state to abolish the death penalty.

12 'extremely emaciated' python snakes rescued from Oak Forest apartment in NW Houston, Pct. 1 says
SUMMARY: The Houston SPCA responded to a unique case involving a dozen neglected ball pythons discovered in plastic bins on a balcony. The snakes, emaciated and suffering from hypothermia, were removed from their inadequate living conditions. Two have already died, while the remaining ten are in critical condition. Veterinarian Dr. Roberta Westbrook is working to stabilize them. The owner voluntarily surrendered the snakes after deputies arrived, but it’s unclear if he was a breeder or collector. Regardless, he will not regain custody of the animals, which will be placed in suitable homes if they recover. The case has been turned over to the DA’s office.
12 neglected pythons were rescued from an apartment complex in the Oak Forest area, Harris County Pct. 1 constable said. Two later died.
