Federal funding to help Lamar, Perry counties bolster law enforcement staffs
SUMMARY: New federal grants are enabling Lamar and Perry counties in the Pine Belt to hire additional law enforcement officers. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office will employ four new deputies, funded by a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Justice Department, aimed at enhancing response times for service calls. Both counties are required to contribute matching fundsโ38% for Lamar and 32% for Perry. Montgomery County also received a grant for one additional officer at nearly $97,000.

Hub City Special Olympics returns to PCS campus
