SUMMARY: Severe weather is impacting southern Louisiana and parts of Mississippi as tropical storm conditions develop. Rainfall totals have reached 7-9 inches in areas from Covington to Houma, with some regions near New Orleans exceeding 9 inches. Flooding is reported, particularly in coastal areas, while central Mississippi anticipates increasing rainfall, currently at three-quarters of an inch. Wind gusts are reaching 30-35 mph in Hattiesburg and surrounding areas. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for coastal Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of Alabama, as Tropical Storm Francine approaches, expected to weaken as it moves into central Mississippi by daybreak.

The worst of the rain and wind for central Mississippi is expected to be overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
