SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports ongoing scattered showers along I-20, influenced by Hurricane Francine, now a Category 1 storm nearing Louisiana‘s coast. Expect increased rain coverage and mid-70s temperatures today, making umbrellas essential for outdoor activities. As Francine makes landfall later, wind gusts may reach 35-45 mph, particularly affecting the coastal areas from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. Heavy rainfall risks persist in southern parishes and parts of Mississippi, with potential flash flooding. Winds will be breezy (20-25 mph) with limited power outages. Conditions will start clearing Friday, climbing to the upper 80s by the weekend with more storm chances.

Francine is expected to make landfall today along the Louisiana coast. Francine will track more eastward than expected putting most of the ArkLaMiss on the western bank of the storm. Widespread rain is still expected, and there still could be some gusty winds along the Mississippi River Valley. Any power outages will be sporadic for areas east of hwy 165. Winds could gust up to 25-30 mph, but impacts look to be minor for most of northeast Louisiana and south Arkansas. Francine will exit tomorrow, and skies will clear by Friday. Temperatures will return to the upper 80s.
