LCSD looks to add stop sign cameras to school buses
SUMMARY: The Lowndes County School District in Columbus, Mississippi, is implementing stop sign cameras on select school buses to enhance student safety. Superintendent Sam Allison emphasized the dangers of vehicles ignoring stop signs during student boarding and alighting. Cameras will be placed on buses in high-traffic areas to monitor violations, with potential fines of $575 for offenders. Although the cameras lack audio, the initiative aims to reassure parents about the district’s commitment to student safety. The district continually seeks ways to improve overall safety for students on their journeys to and from school.

How Isaac Smith became MSUโs top defender
SUMMARY: Isaac Smith, a safety for Mississippi State, emerged as a football standout at Itawamba Agricultural High School, attracting Division I offers. Coming from an athletic family, with his father playing at Ole Miss, Isaac’s first offer also came from there. However, he felt a strong connection with Mississippi State and its late coach Mike Leach, who he admired for his kindness, including attending a game when Isaac wasn’t playing. Following Leach’s unexpected passing, Isaac sought guidance through prayer and ultimately chose Mississippi State, feeling called to be there. Today, he remains committed, regardless of coaching changes.
