Interview: 4th annual Butterfly Bonanza set for Sept. 7 in Columbus

SUMMARY: The Louns County Master Gardeners invite the public to their fourth annual Butterfly Bonanza this at 40 Moors Creek Road in Columbus, featuring various activities for all ages, rock painting and a surprise visit from Mother Goose. The is and aims to engage the community in gardening and butterfly observation during peak butterfly season. Master Gardeners will offer advice on gardening and soil sampling. The event starts at 9 AM, and attendees are encouraged to park by the Walk for easy access. The Master Gardeners promote local flora that attracts butterflies, showcasing their gardening efforts.

The Lowndes County Master Gardeners and the Lowndes County Extension Service invite the public to the 4th annual Butterfly Bonanza.

Tupelo's Braylen Williams ruled ineligible to compete in the 2024-2025 academic year

SUMMARY: Brillan Williams, a football player from High School, has been ruled ineligible by the MHSAA for the 2024-2025 school year after transferring from Nettleton High School. The MHSAA determined that Williams’ move was not a bona fide transfer, stating it was purely for athletic reasons and occurred outside the transfer window. Tupelo High made a case for his eligibility since summer, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Williams had previously played as a quarterback at Nettleton High for two years.

MUW partners with hospital for new nursing program

SUMMARY: The Mississippi for Women (MUW) has launched a new initiative to address the nursing shortage by partnering with Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle. This program allows Registered Nursing to work alongside professionals, becoming student nurse . Associate nursing students at MUW will earn clinical credit while receiving under the mentorship of a clinical coach. Two students from the existing nurse extern program will be selected for this new , enhancing their practical experience and preparing them for future nursing roles.

The Mississippi University for Women is partnering with the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for a new nursing program.
