Tracking heavy rain, the weekend forecast, and a chance for more heavy rain
SUMMARY: Reporting live, Kendall Duncan discusses the heavy rain impacting the area, particularly around Houma, where estimates suggest up to a foot has fallen. Current advisories remain in effect until 6:15 PM. Doppler radar indicates pockets of downpours affecting several areas, including Folsom and Slidell. The rain should lighten up after tonight, with possible lingering showers through tomorrow. The National Hurricane Center notes that the current weather system is weakening, but a new tropical wave over the Yucatan could develop into a tropical depression, bringing more rain in the coming days. Expect occasional showers through Sunday, with potential dry spells north of the city.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie tracks the heaviest rain that was out Friday evening then turns to tracking where the rain is still possible this weekend and where more sun is likely, how those features will affect weekend temperatures, and how this all ties into possible tropical connections with Invest 90-L and another tropical wave that enters the Western Gulf of Mexico this weekend showing you when and where our next batch of heavy rain and flood risk will be with a final look at your complete seven day forecast.

Only the most minor of relief from heat as we head into the weekend
SUMMARY: This week, San Antonio is experiencing extreme heat, reaching 96ยฐF, making it one of the hottest locations in the U.S. The high humidity exacerbates the heat, and a ridge of high pressure will persist. A low-pressure system from the Four Corners may slightly shift the heat by Sunday, leading to a minor temperature drop. However, temperatures will still be in the upper 90s with heat index values surpassing 100ยฐF by Sunday, coinciding with the Equinox at 7:44 AM. While there may be a slight change in temperature, significant relief from the heat is not expected.
