Yellow is the new red: Robertsdale almost ready to roll out new fire engine
SUMMARY: The Robertsdale Volunteer Fire Department has welcomed a new yellow fire truck, diverging from the traditional red. This distinctive hue is a departmental signature, maintained since the fire chief joined. The truck is the third in their fleet, making them the only station in Baldwin County with yellow engines. Beyond aesthetics, the bright color enhances visibility for safety amid increasing traffic. Over the past decade, calls have surged by 400%, leading the department to anticipate over 800 calls this year. The custom-built truck is designed to meet the demands of their growing community and is set to be operational next month.

Federal Reserve Cutting Interest Rates | September 18, 2024 | News 19 at 10 p.m.
SUMMARY: A student has been charged with making a terrorist threat. In notable economic news, the Federal Reserve has lowered interest rates by half a percentage point for the first time in four years. This decision could provide financial relief for citizens in North Alabama, although the benefits may take time to materialize. The rate cut aims to sustain economic strength and support progress on inflation, which has dropped from 9.1% in 2022 to 2.5%. Credit card users may experience immediate relief, while mortgage rates are also expected to decrease. The Fed will closely monitor inflation and unemployment in the coming months.
Americans could be finding more money in their pockets following the Federal Reserve’s announcement of lowering interest rates Wednesday.
