Fort Sam Houston will continue hosting Veterans Day funeral ceremonies
SUMMARY: The Veterans Day ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery is confirmed to take place this year, following a reversal by the Veterans Administration (VA) that had initially canceled it. This change came after five local congressmen, including Greg Casar and Tony Gonzalez, urged the VA to proceed with the event. However, the VA has not disclosed plans for the ceremony’s status next year. Congressman Gonzalez expressed his commitment to ensuring the event continues, emphasizing its significance as 180,000 veterans are interred there. This year, Veterans Day will also be observed at San Antonio National Cemetery.
After hearing feedback from veterans, a congressional relations source told KSAT 12 News that Veterans Affairs will continue to hold Veterans Day funeral ceremonies at Fort Sam Houston.
