Apalachee High School shooting: Suspect was on FBI radar in 2023
SUMMARY: A tragic mass shooting occurred at Apalachee High School in Georgia, resulting in the deaths of two students, Mason Sherman Horn and Christian Angulo, and two teachers, Richard Aspenwall and Christina Iry. The 14-year-old suspect, who is in custody and charged as an adult with murder, had previously been interviewed by the FBI over concerning online posts. The shooting wounded at least nine others, and the suspect surrendered shortly after the attack. Investigators are still determining a motive while the community mourns and reflects on the incident, which took place shortly after the new school year began.
The FBI and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office revealed 14-year-old Colt Gray was on their radar about 16 months ago, and was questioned about reported posts on an online gaming site threatening to shoot up a school. The FBI, in a joint release with JCSO, stated there was not enough evidence to charge Gray.
