Jackson man arrested after almost hitting trooper conducting safety checkpoint
SUMMARY: On September 5, Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) arrested 35-year-old David White after he led troopers on a high-speed chase following a safety checkpoint on Medgar Evers Boulevard near Interstate 220. White, the driver of a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica, refused to stop and nearly struck a trooper before the pursuit concluded on Yarbor Street in Jackson. He was taken to the Hinds County Detention Center, with charges pending. The incident is currently under investigation by MHP.

Former interim Hinds County Sheriff Marshand Crisler convicted in bribery case
SUMMARY: Former interim Hinds County Sheriff Marshand Crisler was found guilty on federal charges of soliciting bribes and providing ammunition to a convicted felon. A jury convicted him on these charges, which were filed in April 2023. Crisler allegedly accepted thousands of dollars in exchange for information about criminal investigations while agreeing to protect a jailed relative of the bribe payer and offer them employment within the sheriff’s office. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison for each count, with his sentencing scheduled for February 6, 2025. Crisler is currently out on bond.

Man wanted on multiple charges in other states arrested in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Byram police arrested James Beasley after a chase on Interstate 55 North on November 7. Beasley was wanted in multiple states for robbery, carjacking, and grand larceny. Officers initiated the pursuit when they learned he was driving a stolen vehicle linked to a carjacking in the Capitol Complex Improvement District of Jackson. The chase, which began in Byram, concluded near the 2300 block of Terry Road in Jackson, where Beasley was taken into custody by Capitol police.
