Vehicle accident on Adkins Blvd
SUMMARY: Jackson police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred around 3 PM today. A 69-year-old man was riding his motorcycle on Adkins Boulevard and attempted to turn north onto Concord Drive when he collided with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction. The investigation is ongoing as authorities gather more details about the incident. Rain is also expected in the area later tonight.

Hub City Special Olympics returns to PCS campus
SUMMARY: Kids from the Pine Belt showcased their talents at the annual Hub City Special Olympics held at Presbyterian Christian School. Over 200 volunteers helped organize activities like softball, cornhole, and soccer, creating a memorable experience for participants. This event, returning after three years, was inspired by a local pediatrician’s son and aims to involve the community in supporting athletes with developmental disabilities. Gareth Bonner from PCS emphasizes the importance of service in the community. Moving forward, top performers may advance to district and regional competitions. The next special Olympics will take place at Camp Shelby from November 1st to 3rd, 2024.

Town of Sumrall has several public projects under way at same time
SUMMARY: Improvement projects are advancing in downtown Som, with increased contractor activity noted. Perry County School District sees rank bump up a grade
SUMMARY: The County School District improved from a C to a B rating according to the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program results. Perry Central High School and Reynolds Town Elementary received B ratings, while Perry Central Middle and South Perry Elementary received D and A ratings, respectively.
