C Spire Announces New Partnerships with Ole Miss and Mississippi State Student Athletes
SUMMARY: C Spire announced partnerships with Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart and Mississippi State basketball guard Josh Hubbard to promote positive digital technology and safer social media use. Research indicates social media can contribute to anxiety and depression in teens, despite its benefits for connection. Both athletes emphasize the importance of maintaining real-world relationships beyond social media. C Spire’s president, Suzy Hays, highlights their mission to guide others in navigating social media perspectives. This aligns with the company’s long history of promoting safe technology use, including its โDon’t Text and Driveโ campaign launched in partnership with NFL rookie Dexter McCluster.

Supreme Court denies appeal for man convicted in the 1992 killing of two college students
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Supreme Court has denied Willie Jerome Manning’s appeal against his 1994 death row conviction for the murders of two college students. Manning’s legal team argues that there is new evidence, including witness recantations and a lack of forensic links to the crime. Despite his attorney’s assertion that the court’s ruling disregards this evidence, the majority opinion stated that Manning has already received ample justice. Dissenting justices argued for a hearing to investigate the recantations. Manning’s lawyers have indicated intentions to pursue further legal options.
