Moss Point leaders looking for ways to clear financial deficit
SUMMARY: Moss Point is facing a financial deficit of about $2 million, prompting Mayor Billy Knight to shed light on the city’s dire situation during a recent address. To address this issue, Knight and Alderman Wayne Lenp are cutting their salaries in half for the next budget cycle, emphasizing their commitment to sacrifice. City leaders are exploring various budget adjustments, including negotiations with Public Works. Knight hopes that these measures will stabilize finances and attract business, ultimately leading to a stronger infrastructure. The city plans to be frugal while searching for effective solutions to overcome its financial challenges.
The meeting was expected to be the first of many of its kind, discussing the contract status with the Public Works department.
