SUMMARY: Mississippi’s poultry farmers can now temporarily delay a pending ad valorem tax increase, with hopes for elimination in the upcoming legislative session. Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson opposes the tax, citing detrimental effects amid record inflation. Counties can adjust property valuations, and local Tax Assessors, alongside the Board of Supervisors, will determine the final values. Farmers are encouraged to communicate with their county officials to ensure timely consideration of the delays.
