Train hits SUV in Fort Smith after driver tries to cross

SUMMARY: In Fort Smith, on South Fresno Street, traffic has resumed after a train collided with an SUV. The train pushed the SUV nearly 300 feet along the tracks at a speed of 16 mph. The driver heard the train but proceeded to cross the intersection, not seeing any flashing lights or crossbars. A backhoe was used to the SUV from the tracks. Fortunately, the driver was not seriously and was taken to the hospital by a member. The driver will be cited for failing to yield, and the Arkansas Missouri Railroad will conduct its own investigation.

The driver told she heard the train’s horn but she decided to cross when she didn’t see any flashing lights or cross bars.

Former Roland animal control supervisor arrested, accused of animal cruelty
