Triple-digit heat on the way, Not much rain ahead
SUMMARY: Chief Meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth reports that tropical storm Debbie is heading out to the Atlantic, affecting local weather with drier air mass in the region. Some passing clouds early this evening will give way to a mostly clear sky as we head into the night. Overnight lows will fall into the middle and upper 70s.
Heat advisories are back in effect for Tuesday. High temperatures will likely reach the upper 90s with triple-digits inland Tuesday afternoon. Heat indices will reach 110 in some spots.
With even drier air aloft, temperatures are likely to range from 99-103 for most communities along and north of I-10.

Federal Reserve Cutting Interest Rates | September 18, 2024 | News 19 at 10 p.m.
SUMMARY: A student has been charged with making a terrorist threat. In notable economic news, the Federal Reserve has lowered interest rates by half a percentage point for the first time in four years. This decision could provide financial relief for citizens in North Alabama, although the benefits may take time to materialize. The rate cut aims to sustain economic strength and support progress on inflation, which has dropped from 9.1% in 2022 to 2.5%. Credit card users may experience immediate relief, while mortgage rates are also expected to decrease. The Fed will closely monitor inflation and unemployment in the coming months.
Americans could be finding more money in their pockets following the Federal Reserve’s announcement of lowering interest rates Wednesday.
