Senate Appropriation Committee approves $7M for Dedeaux Road widening project
SUMMARY: U.S. senators have secured $7 million to support Gulfport‘s plans to widen Dto Road, a project long debated in the city. The expansion has been divided into phases, with some completed and ongoing work on Phase 2. Councilman Arley Flower indicated that the funds will be used to acquire property needed for the project. Markings have been placed along Dto Road to guide contractors on where construction can begin. With about 20,000 vehicles using the road daily, city leaders believe this expansion will provide much-needed relief for Gulfport and surrounding areas.
Flowers expects dirt to start being moved by the end of 2024.
