Texas attorney tried to buy Tarrant County inmates' unborn babies, sheriff's office says
SUMMARY: Jod Hall, a Texas adoption attorney, has been accused of illegally paying Tarrant County jail inmates for their unborn babies. Investigators found that Hall, 68, communicated with pregnant inmates through county-issued tablets, making financial transactions and allegedly using threats for compliance. She faces two charges related to the sale or purchase of a child. The investigation revealed Hall’s questionable activities at the jail, including attempting to secure custody of inmates’ unborn children for her agency, Adoptions International Incorporated, which had its accreditation suspended and canceled in 2019. Hall was arrested on July 23 and has since been released on a $50,000 bond.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office accused 68-year-old Jody Hall of “paying money to multiple pregnant Tarrant County inmates for the purpose of placing their unborn children up for adoption with [her] agency.”
