Heat Continues, Not Much Rain Ahead
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth reports that today‘s weather will be unseasonably warm due to a strong upper-level high pressure system over Texas and Louisiana, reducing typical afternoon rain and thunderstorm activity. Although seabreezes are active, they aren’t generating significant storms, with only a few isolated showers observed. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s, creating a heat index that could feel like 112ยบF. A 30% chance of rain persists for the afternoon, with slightly better chances over the weekend as temperatures may drop to the low 90s due to increased moisture.
Heat, heat, and more heat ahead for the Gulf Coast. Rain chances will remain spotty at best over the next few days.
Temperatures will be very slow to cool through the evening with only a few showers and storms around. Temperatures will bottom out in the upper 70s and lower 80s by Thursday morning. Winds will remain very light.
The hot pattern continue through the rest of the week with hot afternoons. Highs will reach the middle and upper 90s. Heat index values will reach as high as 112. Storms will remain spotty after lunchtime.
The chance of rain will pick up this weekend with a stalled front setting up to our north. The weather pattern next week will depend on the eventual track of a tropical disturbance.
