Heat Advisory Monday, More Heat and Isolated Storms This Week: Sunday Evening Forecast 7/28/2024
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner from News 5 forecasts a hot week ahead, with temperatures in the mid-90s and heat index values exceeding 100 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect for western counties on Monday. Though a weather system in the central Atlantic is being monitored, it poses no threat to the viewing area. Isolated showers and storms may develop throughout the week, particularly in southeastern areas. A more significant rain chance is expected by the weekend, bringing cooler temperatures. Beachgoers should remain cautious of moderate heat and low rip current risks. Stay hydrated and take breaks in air-conditioned areas.
More scattered storms pushed over the News 5 area today, but storms will become more isolated throughout this week. Temperatures will get hotter, though! After evening lingering storms, brief showers are possible overnight with lows sitting in the mid-70’s. Isolated showers and storms are possible in the morning, then more will push inland by the afternoon. Highs will jump into the low-90’s with heat index values reaching close to 110° for some spots. A Heat Advisory has been issued from noon till 7 pm Monday. Rip current risk will remain low for the work week. Isolated storms will be possible throughout this week, and it will get even hotter towards the middle and end of the work week. Highs will push into the mid- to upper-90’s. A front diving south through the southeast US will bring higher rain chances for the back half of next weekend, and temperatures will be more reasonable next Sunday. In the tropics, we are tracking one area with a medium chance of formation over the next seven days in the central Atlantic. We could see some slow development as it moves closer to the Lesser and Greater Antilles this week. There are no current threats to the News 5 area.
