Israel blames Hezbollah for strike on soccer field that killed 11
SUMMARY: A recent rocket attack in an Israeli-controlled region of southwest Syria resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people, including children, marking the deadliest assault since the onset of hostilities on October 7. Israel has accused the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah of orchestrating the strike, which hit a soccer field in the Golan Heights and injured around 20 others, predominantly aged 10 to 20. In response to the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cut short his U.S. visit to convene with his cabinet. Both the White House and former President Trump condemned Hezbollah’s involvement, emphasizing unwavering support for Israel. The escalation between Israel and Hezbollah raises concerns of widespread conflict, particularly amid ongoing tensions stemming from the Gaza war. Netanyahu reaffirmed that the attack would not go unanswered.
