Dallas pastor describes the moment he realized his church was on fire
SUMMARY: Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in southeast Dallas caught fire today, resulting in one firefighter injury. Pastor Paul David Taylor, who has served there for 48 years, discovered smoke while preparing for Sunday sermons and exited to call for help. Despite the blaze, which damaged the church’s roof, Pastor Taylor expressed gratitude that the fire primarily affected the church offices and spared the sanctuary, allowing most of his books to be salvaged. The cause of the fire remains unknown, but the church plans to hold a service this Sunday at a yet-to-be-determined location.
Pastor P.D. Taylor was working inside the church, prepping his Sunday sermon, when he noticed smoke coming from a hallway.

Fifth Circuit squashes district court ruling on Texas election law, blocks another portion of it | Texas
SUMMARY: The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a district court’s ruling that blocked parts of Texas‘ election integrity law, which went into effect in September 2021. U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez had ruled that the ballot harvesting restriction violated constitutional rights, but the appeals court criticized the timing of his injunction, arguing it could confuse voters close to the election. The Fifth Circuit’s decision allows the state to enforce the law and investigate election violations. Additionally, the Secretary of State’s Office is appealing another ruling affecting the law’s canvassing provisions, further complicating legal interpretations ahead of the election.
