Tracking storms out Monday night then timing storms expected on Tuesday and a check on the tropics
SUMMARY: Tonight’s weather update highlights ongoing storms with a few lightning strikes primarily over Lake Pontchartrain. Heavy rain is expected, especially around the Causeway, as a record of two inches was recorded, surpassing a 1965 mark. High temperatures reached around 90ยฐF, with scattered storms likely tomorrow and an 80% chance of rain. While flood risks persist, temperatures are projected to rise as rain chances decrease by the weekend. Current atmospheric conditions include high humidity and Saharan dust preventing tropical activity. The seven-day forecast indicates continued storm activity, with potential for locally heavy rain and floods.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie tracks the showers and storms that are out Monday evening, then tracks and times the next likeliest round of rain where you are letting you know what impact rain will have on temperatures and how much rain could fall, then takes a look at the tropics where a feature could enhance our rain chances over the next two days, while checking on how the Saharan Dust is having an effect on the Atlantic too.
