Coast Life: Historic Ocean Springs home laid foundation for modern home designs
SUMMARY: The Charley Norwood house in Ocean Springs is considered one of the first modern homes in the Western world, showcasing an early open floor plan. Initially designed by Louis Sullivan and his assistant Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1890s, the house featured a horizontal layout with large porches. After a fire in 1897, it was rebuilt and named Bon Seline, symbolizing its resilience. Surviving Hurricane Katrina, the home has become a Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage site, preserving its architectural legacy and offering educational opportunities to architecture students. Tours of the historic home are available for those interested.

SATURDAY: MS Gulf Coast Kennel Club to celebrate 'Responsible Dog Ownership Day' with event
