Kamala Harris endorsed by Biden, other top Democrats
SUMMARY: Vice President Kamala Harris has announced her bid for the presidency, following President Biden‘s decision not to seek re-election. In her statement, she expressed gratitude for Biden’s leadership and pledged to earn the Democratic nomination. Political analysts suggest Harris needs to quickly reintroduce herself to voters, particularly younger and minority demographics. Key tasks include selecting a strong vice presidential running mate, capitalizing on the existing Biden-Harris campaign infrastructure, and stabilizing the party after recent turmoil. However, she faces challenges, including expected criticisms of her handling of the border crisis, which could dominate Republican attacks during the campaign.
Vice President Kamala Harris received the endorsement of President Joe Biden and several other top Democrats after the announcement that Biden would end his presidential campaign. FOX 4’s Shaun Rabb talks to political scientist Cal Jillson about Harris’ future, including potential running mates if she gets the presidential nomination.

Cruz: Hate ‘manifesting right here’ during hearing on campus antisemitism | National
SUMMARY: During a Senate Judiciary hearing on hate crimes, Sen. Ted Cruz criticized pro-Hamas rioters and Democrats for the rise of antisemitism in the U.S., citing increased threats against Jewish students on college campuses. The hearing was disrupted by protestors, leading Cruz to label their actions as antisemitism. Cruz noted that antisemitic incidents have surged since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, particularly in universities. He emphasized that while other forms of hate are swiftly condemned, antisemitism is often overlooked. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reinforced the need for educational institutions to combat antisemitism and enacted measures to address this issue.

Avoiding toll road collection scams
SUMMARY: Toll-related phishing scams are becoming common, where individuals receive unsolicited texts claiming they have outstanding toll balances, directing them to click a link that appears genuine but is fraudulent. Leah Napo from the Better Business Bureau advises caution, especially if the message requests immediate action or sensitive personal information. To verify legitimacy, individuals should contact their toll authority directly. If someone accidentally engages with a scam, they should not click any links and may need to run malware checks on their devices. Reporting such scams to the FBI or Federal Trade Commission is also recommended to help combat these issues.
Leah Napoliello, Vice President of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Houston and South Texas, shares what you need to know to keep your information safe from scammers posing as toll road collection agencies in text messages.
