Widespread disruptions were not the result of security incident or cyberattack: CrowdStrike
SUMMARY: A global technology outage caused by a faulty update to Microsoft Windows systems disrupted various services worldwide on Friday. Flights were grounded, banks and hospital systems went offline, and media outlets were affected. CrowdStrike clarified that the issue was not due to a cyberattack and that repairs were underway. The outage impacted airports, causing significant delays, particularly at U.S., European, and Australian airports. Many services reliant on Microsoft 365, including banks, hospitals, and news outlets, faced disruptions. Some athletes and spectators heading to the Paris Olympics experienced delays.
