LIVE: Ocean Springs to vote on new golf cart ordinance
SUMMARY: Tonight, Ocean Springs leaders are convening to discuss regulations regarding golf carts on city roadways. Known for extensive use of golf carts downtown, the city is addressing what types of vehicles can legally operate on streets. Currently, only golf carts and low-speed vehicles are permitted, provided the roads have a speed limit of 30 mph or less. Operators need a valid driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility. Required vehicle features include headlights, tail lights, turn signals, mirrors, windshields, horns, and brake lights. ATVs and side-by-sides are prohibited. Further rules and discussions will be addressed at the City Hall meeting tonight.
