City of Pascagoula working on improvement project at one of its well-known piers
SUMMARY: Construction workers are adding a new 300-foot recreational pier to Pascagoula Point Park. Russ and Cheryl James, frequent visitors, are excited about the new fishing opportunities. Kim Kitchen also looks forward to using the pier for crabbing with her family. The pier will include benches, pavilions, and flow-through decking to withstand hurricanes. Funded by the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act, the pier will be northeast of the current northern pier. Additionally, a flow-through decking project is ongoing at River Park, which started in April, also funded by similar sources. The completion timeline is uncertain due to the hurricane season.
Construction began on a new Point Park fishing pier a few days ago, and residents say they can’t wait until it’s finished.
