Hub City Special Olympics returns to PCS campus

Town of Sumrall has several public projects under way at same time

Federal funding to help Lamar, Perry counties bolster law enforcement staffs

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office will employ four new deputies, funded by a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Justice Department, aimed at enhancing response times for service calls. Perry County will use a $250,000 grant to hire two deputies, addressing the challenges of its large, rural landscape. Both counties are required to contribute matching funds—38% for Lamar and 32% for Perry. Montgomery County also received a grant for one additional officer at nearly $97,000.
