Historically, it has hosted diverse events from wrestling to dog shows. The $3.3 million project, partly funded by insurance from a 2019 fire and a state cap loan, will also house the Parks and Recreation offices, reinstating the center as a major community asset.

The MHSAA determined that Williams’ move was not a bona fide transfer, stating it was purely for athletic reasons and occurred outside the transfer window. Tupelo High made a case for his eligibility since summer, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Williams had previously played as a quarterback at Nettleton High for two years.
