SUMMARY: It’s a special week for Ole Miss fans in the Metro as College World Series champions Tim Elko and Jacob Gonzalez return to Mississippi. Both were drafted by the White Sox in consecutive years and now play together for the Double-A Birmingham Barons. Elko and Gonzalez, who first connected during a high school visit to Oxford, later became teammates at Ole Miss, winning a national championship and forming a close bond. Their return to Trustmark Park as professionals is nostalgic for them. Additionally, the White Sox system includes other former Ole Miss players, Andrew McDonald and Calvin Harris, highlighting the quality of the Ole Miss baseball program.

Tim Elko and Jacob Gonzalez, Ole Miss baseball legends who helped bring the Rebels their first national title, are now teammates once again. They are on the same Double-A team in the White Sox organization. The pair return to a familiar place in TrustMark Park with the Birmingham Barons taking on the M-Braves this week. The two college and now minor league teammates don’t get their experience in Oxford for granted as they forge a path together to get to the majors
