New disturbance pops up near Florida's east coast

SUMMARY: The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance off Florida’s east coast. This broad trough of low pressure is causing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, but current conditions are not favorable for development. According to meteorologist Amanda Holly, the system will continue to rotate for a couple of days, increasing the chance of showers and storms, especially by Friday morning, due to nearby tropical moisture. It is expected to move towards the Carolinas, sparing Florida’s weekend weather. The NHC reports the system has a 10 percent chance of developing within the next seven days as it moves inland over the southeastern U.S.
