SUMMARY: Lauren Johansson, a 22-year-old from Gulfport, was allegedly beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend, Bryson Rivers. Court documents reveal that Rivers, charged with multiple felonies, was released from a Tennessee jail under conditions that he wear a GPS monitor and remain in Tennessee. Despite these orders, Rivers was let out five minutes after the court’s mandated time and was taken to the wrong monitoring service due to the assigned office being closed. Subsequently, he was allowed to return to Mississippi, where he killed Johansson. Her father condemns the criminal justice system’s failure in preventing her death.
Court documents show how her alleged abuser was let out of a Tennessee jail and was able to return to Mississippi.
