Pink Up-Mother, daughter survive breast cancer
SUMMARY: A mother and daughter, both breast cancer survivors diagnosed almost a decade apart, share their journey to encourage others fighting similar battles. Claudette Brenson, the daughter, discovered a lump that grew to the size of a golf ball. Her mother Laquita had battled breast cancer years earlier and had been cancer-free for three years, attributing her recovery to faith and medical treatment. Claudette underwent a double mastectomy and numerous treatments, also crediting her survival to prayers and family support. Despite the emotional and physical challenges, both women emphasize the importance of early detection and regular check-ups for both men and women.

Walk to bring awareness to mental health issues staged Saturday in Hattiesburg
SUMMARY: The Pine Bell chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) held its Ninth Annual NAMI Walks event today at Town Square Park, aiming to raise awareness and funds for advocacy and education. Dozens of participants walked multiple laps around the park, with over a dozen vendors representing community organizations. The chapter aims to raise $15,000 this year, an increase from last year’s goal of $10,000, and has already collected $11,000. Donations are still being accepted, and more information can be found on their website.
