SUMMARY: In South Mississippi, recreational activities like ATV riding are common, but safety concerns are rising after a near-tragic accident involving Pine Belt teen Brody Wages. One month ago, 14-year-old Brody suffered severe injuries when thrown from an ATV. His father, David Wages, is now advocating for safety, emphasizing that accidents can happen to anyone. Mississippi law requires a valid driver’s license or state-certified safety course for operating ATVs on public property, and those under 16 must wear an approved crash helmet. Brody is expected to make a full recovery but faces a long road ahead. The family is grateful but urges safer ATV practices.
