“He was like my best friend.” Horse killed, high schooler injured during hit-and-run in West

SUMMARY: Good evening, I’m Craig Ford with WTV 9 News at 6. A Clay County high school student, Rico Collins, and his horse Boon were struck by a hit-and- driver Monday night on Waverly Road near Point. Boon’s injuries were so severe that he had to be euthanized. Rico suffered a concussion and injuries to his neck, back, and wrist. Rico shared his deep bond with Boon, describing the horse as his best friend. The incident is under investigation, and authorities are searching for the driver of a red truck. Anyone with information should contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office or Golden Triangle Stoppers.

Heidelberg VFD receives $10,000 grant
