Alumni work to get historical marker at site of former Siggers High

SUMMARY: Members of the Class of ’65 from Siggers High School, the first high school for African Americans in Shannon, Mississippi, aim to honor their legacy of struggle and triumph by securing a historical marker for the site. Now the location of Shannon Elementary, only one original building remains. District Sixteen Representative Rickey Thompson supports fundraising efforts for the marker, which would highlight the significance of African American education prior to integration.
