Railroad worker finds body in Lowndes County – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: A railroad worker discovered a deceased man alongside a railroad track on Smith Road, Lowndes County, on Tuesday afternoon. Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins, deputies, and Coroner Greg Merchant are investigating. The body was found near a makeshift shelter containing food and clothing. SUMMARY: Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a category one hurricane near Matagorda, Texas, early Monday morning, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Currently tracking north, it threatens Texas' coastline with storm surges and significant flooding. A storm surge warning is in effect from Mesquite Bay to Sabine Pass, including Matagorda and Galveston Bays. Areas from Mesquite Bay to Port Bolivar are under a hurricane warning, while a tropical storm warning extends north of Port Bolivar to Sabine Pass. Beryl will weaken to a tropical depression by Tuesday as it heads into the Lower Mississippi and Ohio Valleys, with potential tornadoes in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
