The Ladners, inspired by Emmett Till's murder, were active in the NAACP Youth Council, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and participated in Freedom Rides and marches. The site is part of the Sixth Street Museum District. The new marker stands where the historic Woods Guest House once did, emphasizing Hattiesburg's crucial role in civil rights history.

SUMMARY: Mississippi artists aged 21 and older have the chance to win $2,000 and be spotlighted at the state's largest art festival through the Blue Moon Art Project contest. Participants are required to submit a contemporary, museum-quality canvas (24″ x 36″) without beer bottles or text, inspired by the Blue Moon beer brand. SUMMARY: A manhunt in Harrison County concluded with the arrest of Bricen John Rivers, charged with one count of murder. Deputies responded to Wolf River Cemetery, where they found Rivers running into the woods. A deceased woman, 22-year-old Lauren Johansen of Gulfport, was found in the vehicle Rivers fled from. Johansen, reported missing July 2, attended school in Hattiesburg. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the search, ultimately locating Rivers and arresting him. He is held at Harrison County Adult Detention Facility on a $1 million bond.
