Remnants of Beryl expected to pass west, north of Pine Belt

Tropical Storm Barrel, a 60 mph windstorm, is expected to intensify in the Western Gulf of Mexico, possibly becoming a Category 1 hurricane. Expect patchy fog and oppressive humidity overnight.

Hattiesburg man arrested in connection to Smith County bomb threat
SUMMARY: A Hattiesburg man, Tobias Smith, 27, is in custody for a bomb threat sent via text to a Smith County business, leading to the evacuation of employees at Georgia Pacific Plywood near Taylorville.
